Title: MODULE 8 DISCUSSION
Question 40809: Discrimination occurs when people are offered or denied opportunities based on race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, or other personal characteristics. Discrimination in the workplace reflects broader prejudices in society. Measuring discrimination is often difficult and can occur for statistical reasons. To correct for discrimination in the macroeconomy, policymakers offer two suggestions:
1. Increasing the educational attainment of all workers will limit discriminatory wages and raise economic growth.
2. Increasing national savings is a key determinant of long-run prosperity.
In your initial post, explain why each of these suggestions is relevant to you and support your choice with economic concepts you have learned during the course.
In your responses, comment on at least two posts from your peers. Compare and contrast your thoughts about the economics of discrimination. Provide examples from current macroeconomic news to support your claims.
